Hazeldean Tenants

Neighbours, helping neighbours

Welcome,
neighbours.

We live here too, and want to help.
Let’s connect.

Lets Get Connected

We are an information sharing and support hub made up of an informal association of residents from
the Hazeldean community and surrounding areas, including both tenants and homeowners alike.
This website is for the purpose of offering support materials, helpful information, and resources to our
low-income friends and neighbours in the Hazeldean community to help tenants to make more informed
and empowered choices for themselves.

We’d love to hear from you.

We are a living website

We will continue to post more helpful information and point towards more supportive resources as we
continue.

Stay tuned for more!

Our Gardening Initiative

Please join us in an Act of Community!

With it, we hope to compel changes to the Residential Tenancies Act
to better protect tenants and require more accountability from
landlords.

We have a rare opportunity, and we CAN make a difference!

It’s not too late to plant!

It’s just a few seeds.

  • Corn and sunflowers: plant about an inch deep, 6-8” apart in a sunny spot.
  • Wildflowers can go anywhere you have soil. Just sprinkle them around!

Just a bit of water.

  • A jugful once a day. Twice on hot days. On rainy days, take the day off!

It’s just one summer.

  • With your participation and help, we can create and popularise a petition
to change the Residential Tenancy legislation in Alberta.
  • Even if you are a new tenant. Especially if you’ve just been forced to move!
  • The seeds that you plant will start making a difference in about 7 weeks.

Please keep check in here for updates and progress on our summer gardening project.

We still have more seeds left for anyone in the hazeldean community who has not already received or acquired some! Let us know!

Does anyone need any spare dirt or wood for gardening boxes? Does anyone have any spare dirt or wood?

We will put it up on our community exchange page called A Cup of Sugar!

This is a community effort

Hazeldean in the News

This is our media coverage page to keep us all in the loop.

We will add more stories as we find them.

If you know of any stories we haven’t found, please send us a link so that we can share!

Resources – We’ve got your kit!

We’ll keep building this library of resources for all of us – let us know if there is anything else that would be helpful, but isn’t here (yet!)

If there’s anything else that you need to know or to rely upon, just ask us. We’ll do our best to put it here for you, so it’s easy.

Lets start with the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA)
